Very informative interview. I can remember my parents telling me to go to school get a good job and everything will be great. It worked 30 years ago, but things are changing. Thanks for letting us know that a job is not the only option that we have to provide for our families.
Brent and Kevin,
A great overview of what being a Free Agent looks like and how to go about it. Thanks for doing the show!
Christopher
Chris and Terrance – Thanks for the feedback…I appreciate it. Kevin added some great insight that’s a bit ‘counter-cultural’ but, right on the mark! Looking forward to getting some other Free Agent Academy folks in future interviews as well!
Brent & Kevin,
This was a great show. The fact that you paint a realistic picture of what the free agent life style is all about lends so much to your credibility. Being self employed is a lot of work. I have been self employed for ten years, and when you are your own boss, you have to make sure all the bases are covered which often requires long hours. But at the end of the day, being in control of your life and being able to work from home is so well worth it. Keep up the good work helping others find a way to do that.
Be prepared, Give 110%, Be Adaptable, Allow Your creative Entrepreneurship to Bloom. Being a member of Free Agent Academy assist me to do all of these things. I am happy in my “first 40 hours” of the week job but, I love running my own business and getting to start new business or other streams of income. I know that things always change and with FAA I am better prepared to move into new successful business adventures when my regular work situation might change. Isn’t that a wonderful thing!!! FAA is like a “brotherhood” lead by Kevin and others that have a tremendous amount of experience and passion (as both of you talked about) and with that encouragement and enthusiasm members of FAA are creating their own future and doing what they love!
Thansk and God Bless the USA!

Brent and Kevin,
What a great show! Very informative, but more than that, authentic. It’s nice to hear truth instead of hype. Free Agent Academy and Kevin Miller are the real thing!
There comes a point, sometimes several times, in everyone’s life, when they come to the edge. They look back and see that for any of a number of reasons, there is nothing left behind them. As hard as it might be, they know what they need to do is move forward. Their growth requires it. It may not be easy. They might really rather have another option, but there is none if they are to expand and grow. The question is, will they have the discipline and strength to push forward into the unknown anyway, having the faith that it will all work out. Such is the case, many times, with self employment.
Thanks for the good comments – we appreciate it!
Thanks for the great perspective from two of America’s finest coaches. I don’t now what all my other friends and family are doing, but I’m running with you winners!
Good discussion. Good points. But I have to disagree on one point – a self-employed person can loose it all like an employee can be fired. In my self-employed journey I have had clients dry up, get bought out, go out of business, etc. All of that can leave you without work and it can happen quite suddenly. Recently I have found myself with the possibility of no income because of changes beyond my control. I wouldn’t change being self-employed for anything but I think you need to be aware that change comes and even thought you can’t be fired it can all go away.
Interesting points Joel! Seems to me that one can lose it all on either ‘side’ (self-employment or working a job). But – I think that on the self-employment side, there is the opportunity to control things more. I believe that not everything is in our control….but we can build a business model on the self-employed side that isn’t subject to the whims of ‘upper management’. Regardless….great discussion points! Thanks everyone for contributing!
Brent,
I just wanted to say that I think that the audio quality of this show is really great! Even if the Skype audio is not perfect all the time, it’s definitely better than a phone interview!
Again, sounds great! Keep up the great work!
